President’s visit to Uttarakhand: Preparations intensify, Speaker holds high-level meeting

Dehradun/Rudrapur: A two-day special session of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly will be convened on November 3rd and 4th to mark the silver jubilee of Uttarakhand Statehood Day. President Draupadi Murmu is expected to address this special session. A high-level meeting was held on Wednesday, October 29th, under the chairmanship of Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri.

Senior officials from all relevant government departments, including the police administration, information and public relations departments, medical, energy, drinking water, public works, transport, and the Assembly Secretariat, were present. The meeting discussed in detail the preparations, security protocols, and other arrangements related to President Draupadi Murmu’s visit to the Assembly during the upcoming special session.

The Speaker directed all departments to ensure no laxity during President Draupadi Murmu’s visit and the session, and to complete all arrangements within the stipulated timeframe.

He stated that this session will be historic for Uttarakhand, as it will feature extensive discussions on the state’s 25-year development journey. This occasion will feature meaningful discussions on the state’s development achievements, challenges, and future plans.

It was decided at the meeting that a pre-determined list of security arrangements, media coverage, photography, and videography will be established during President Draupadi Murmu’s arrival and address. Officials from the administration and the Assembly Secretariat have been assigned this task. A special pass system will be implemented for entry, movement, and all meeting activities within the Assembly premises. The Information and Public Relations Department has been directed to finalize a list of media representatives and provide it to the Assembly Secretariat by October 31.

The Speaker stated that special attention will be paid to maintaining peace, security, and discipline within the Assembly premises during the President’s address. He also directed the concerned departments to maintain coordination between the media and the administration to ensure that all protocols are fully followed during the President’s visit.

The meeting reviewed arrangements for the Assembly building complex, including cleanliness, beautification, firefighting, water and electricity supply, guest reception, seating arrangements, traffic control, and medical facilities.

The Speaker directed the concerned departments to prioritize cleaning, garden beautification, flower arrangements, and lighting in the areas surrounding the Assembly building. The fire department was instructed to remain on alert and maintain a rapid response team in case of an emergency.

Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan urged all officials to work in coordination and with full readiness so that this special session can be concluded peacefully, disciplined, and historically. This will not only be an opportunity to review Uttarakhand’s 25-year development journey but also a means to set new directions for the coming years.

President Draupadi Murmu to visit Nainital on November 4: In addition to Dehradun, President Draupadi Murmu is also scheduled to visit Nainital. In Nainital, preparations are underway for President Draupadi Murmu’s visit. On Wednesday, October 29th, the Nainital District Magistrate held a meeting with officials.

Nainital SSP Manjunath TC stated that the police administration has intensified preparations for the President’s proposed visit. Security verification has begun in the district. Additional police forces have been contacted by the PHQ for the program. In addition, officers at all police stations and outposts in the district have been instructed to conduct extensive checking campaigns in their respective areas. Furthermore, the proposed route has been inspected.

Measures are being worked out to ensure that the public does not face any inconvenience during the program. It is worth noting that President Draupadi Murmu is scheduled to be the chief guest at the 20th convocation of Kumaon University on November 4th. During the ceremony, she will address the students and honor some with medals, after which she will visit the Kainchi Dham Temple in Bhawali.
