Chandigarh: The Punjab government on Wednesday issued transfer orders for four senior police officers, including two IPS officers returning from central deputation and a United Nations assignment, with immediate effect.
The move aims to bolster critical wings of the state police, including anti-narcotics, counter-intelligence, and vigilance operations.
Details of Transfers
Mr Kaustubh Sharma, IPS (RR-2001): Returning from a UN assignment, he has been posted as Inspector General of Police (IGP), Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Punjab, SAS Nagar (Mohali).
Mr Aashish Chaudhary, IPS (RR-2003): Repatriated from central deputation, he has been appointed as Inspector General (IG), Counter Intelligence, Punjab, SAS Nagar.
Mr Varinder Singh Brar, PPS: Currently AIG Provisioning in Punjab, Chandigarh, his services have been placed at the disposal of the Vigilance Bureau, Punjab for further posting.
Mr Jagat Preet Singh, PPS (TP/113): Previously awaiting posting, his services have also been assigned to the Vigilance Bureau, Punjab.
Immediate Reporting and Administrative Orders
All officers have been directed to join their new assignments immediately. The transfer orders were signed by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Mr Alok Shekhar and issued under the signature of Under Secretary Mr Kuldeep Singh Ghuman. Copies have been forwarded to the Director General of Police, Chief Director of the Vigilance Bureau, and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
Purpose of Transfers
Officials said that such transfers are routine in police administration and are intended to strengthen operational efficiency in critical areas like counter-intelligence, anti-narcotics enforcement, and vigilance operations across the state.
