Jaipur: The Bhajan Lal Sharma government is set to lift ban on transfers for 10 days starting Feb 8 which is likely to result in a large number of government servants seeking recommendation letters from MLAs.
Sources said that all major government departments, including the education department, are fully prepared to receive transfer applications. Of the 7.8 lakh government employees, close to 3 lakh are in the education department.
The window of eight to 10 days would be the last opportunity for the employees to seek transfers before the Lok Sabha polls scheduled to be held April–May.
The MCC will be enforced in mid-March and will not leave any chance for employees waiting for transfers for long.
“The party MLAs, MPs, and office-bearers will have a say in the transfers. This is the time that we will oblige the people who supported us in the polls. The window of eight to 10 days may be small, but the party has authorised its MLAs to give their consent to applications referred by the dedicated party worker,” said a BJP leader.
Most of the transfer applications are expected to come from the education department. The former government gave the desired transfers to teachers who shared their ideas. Now, it is the turn of the BJP government to reciprocate. It is unclear whether the transfer process will be held online or whether the seeker has to submit application in person.
