‘Self-Reliant Uttarakhand’ Tableau to be Displayed at Bharat Parv on Republic Day; Know What Will Be Special

Dehradun: This year, Uttarakhand’s tableau will be displayed at Bharat Parv under the theme of ‘Self-Reliant Uttarakhand’. Visitors will be able to witness Uttarakhand’s journey of development during Bharat Parv, which will be held at the historic Red Fort in Delhi from January 26 to 31. This year, the theme of Uttarakhand’s tableau is ‘Self-Reliant Uttarakhand’, which reflects the state’s cultural, economic, and traditional self-reliance in line with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India).

KS Chauhan, Joint Director of the Uttarakhand Information Department and Nodal Officer for the tableau, said that the tractor section of the ‘Self-Reliant Uttarakhand’ tableau features attractive copper replicas of traditional musical instruments ‘Dhol’ and ‘Ransingha’, symbolizing Uttarakhand’s rich cultural heritage and the artistic mastery of its craftsmen.

Intricate details of copper art will be visible: The first part of the trailer section displays a large sculpture of ‘copper cymbals’, which showcases the intricate details of copper art. In addition, the middle section depicts beautifully crafted copper utensils such as ‘Gagar’, ‘Surahi’, and ‘Kundi’, which are an integral part of traditional household life in Uttarakhand.

The lower and side panels of this section are adorned with prominent depictions of the traditional musical instrument ‘Bhonkor’, further enriching the cultural narrative. The rear section of the tableau features a captivating sculpture of a ‘copper craftsman’ engaged in the process of making copper utensils with his hands.

Around the craftsman are meticulously crafted copper utensils, symbolizing the knowledge, skill, and dignity of labor passed down through generations. This tableau of Uttarakhand beautifully showcases the craftsmanship, cultural contributions, economic self-reliance, livelihood, skills, and traditions of the artisan community of Devbhoomi (Land of Gods).

KS Chauhan said that this tableau of Uttarakhand presents its rich cultural heritage through its ancient craft, which remains a vibrant part of society even today. Copper utensils and artifacts made by local artisans using traditional techniques are not only examples of exquisite craftsmanship, but they also hold special significance in social, cultural, and religious life.

For centuries, these handcrafted products have been an integral part of household use and traditional rituals, closely reflecting the rich traditions and creative heritage of Uttarakhand. For many families, especially within the artisan community, this ancient craft is not just a cultural tradition, but also a vital source of livelihood.

Uttarakhand’s tableau will not be seen on Kartavya Path: It is worth noting that this time, on Republic Day on January 26th, Uttarakhand’s tableau will not be seen on Kartavya Path. In 2025, Uttarakhand’s tableau based on ‘Cultural Heritage and Adventure Sports’ was featured on Kartavya Path. While in 2023, the Manaskhand tableau secured the first position.
