Sports Maha Kumbh will be held in Uttarakhand before the 38th National Games, Sports Minister held a meeting and directed to hold it from October 1

Dehradun: Sports Maha Kumbh will be held in the state before the 38th National Games. Sports Minister Rekha Arya, in a review meeting of the department at the Sports Directorate, directed the officials to hold it from October 1. The minister said that the department has made an estimated budget of Rs 264 crore for Champawat Women’s Sports College. Efforts are being made that the Prime Minister lays the foundation stone of Women’s Sports College and Sports University along with the inauguration of the National Games.

The Sports Minister said that the government and the department are fully prepared for the National Games. The announcement of the date for the games is awaited. Discussions have also been held with Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha and Union Sports Minister on this issue. Rajiv Gandhi Stadium will remain under the Sports Department till the National Games are held. Efforts will be made to hold international games in the stadium. In the meeting, discussions were also held regarding Chief Minister’s Emerging Player Upgradation Scheme, Chief Minister’s Player Promotion Scheme, Chief Minister’s Sports Development Fund, establishment of Sports University in Haldwani.

In the meeting, the Sports Minister has instructed the officials to pay the remaining scholarship to the beneficiaries of Mukhyamantri Udyaman Khiladi Unnayan Yojana and Protsahan Yojana through DBT by October 1. While the selection trials of the scheme should be done between April and June every year according to the academic session. The minister also said that the Sports Department should display the list of registered sports associations on its website, so that information about the sports associations can be obtained.

Special Principal Secretary Amit Sinha, Sports Director Jitendra Kumar Sonkar, Additional Director in-charge Ajay Kumar Agarwal, Shakti Singh, Neeraj Gupta, Sanjeev Kumar Pauri, Rajesh Manmgai, Kamal Kant Sharma etc. were present in the meeting.
