Nainital: On the orders of the High Court, in the matter of exploitation and torture of the petitioner by the police, the State Human Rights Commission has issued a notice to the Kumaon Commissioner and ordered him to present the investigation report before the Commission on May 29 himself or through his representative. The date of May 29 has been fixed for the next hearing of the case in the High Court.
Let us tell you that even after four years, the petitioner’s complaint was not heard by the State Human Rights, due to which the petitioner filed a petition in the High Court for an early hearing. While hearing the matter earlier, the High Court had directed the State Human Rights Commission to resolve their complaint and submit its reply within four weeks. The Commission had earlier also issued a notice to the Commissioner asking him to submit the investigation report, but the investigation report was not presented. On which the Commission has once again issued a notice and ordered to present the investigation report before the Commission on May 29 through itself or its representative.
According to the case, Bhuvan Chandra Pokharia, a resident of Haldwani Chorgaliya, has given an application to the Commission saying that in the matter of illegal mining, storage in Chorgaliya, disobeying the orders of NGT and High Court, he had raised his voice keeping in mind the interest of the society. On which a case was registered against him by Chorgaliya Police under various sections of IPC and Goonda Act. Not only this, his licensed weapon was surrendered by the police and his license was canceled. He was repeatedly taken to police stations and courts and tortured. Due to which their social image has been tarnished, hence action should be taken against the officials who harassed them.
