Dehradun: State Level Executive Committee Meeting of Spring and River Rejuvenation Authority (SARRA) was held in the Secretariat on Friday under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan. During the meeting, various central institutions and various departments of the state participated.
The Additional Chief Secretary directed all the departments to make plans for sustainable development of water resources on scientific basis in all the districts in a similar manner. The Additional Chief Secretary also reviewed the study being conducted by NIH and IIT Roorkee for long-term treatment plans of Nayar, Shipra, Gauri and Sog rivers. He also directed to complete all the works soon.
The Additional Chief Secretary directed SARRA to develop treatment models of water sources, rivers and tributary streams in each district, so that this model can be encouraged to be adopted by various departments and the general public to take this ambitious work forward.
In the meeting, Additional Chief Executive Officer SARRA, Neena Grewal informed that various districts in the state are working for the revival of water sources through convergence with SARRA. Till date, work plans worth Rs 29 crore have been approved for treating water sources from the districts on scientific basis, in which Rs 12 crore is being allocated by SARRA as convergence.
The State Level Executive Committee of SARA today also approved the proposed schemes for scientific treatment of Argad and Song tributary rivers/streams of Tehri district, which cost Rs 8.16 crore.
In today’s meeting, approval was given to construct 51 recharge shafts for recharging the groundwater level of Dehradun. These will be constructed by the Minor Irrigation Department with the help of Central Ground Water Board in the premises of various government buildings.
Central and State Government departments like NIH, IIT Roorke, Central Ground Water Board, Forest, Irrigation, Minor Irrigation, Agriculture, Rural Development, etc. participated in the meeting.
