Tanakpur: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for a total of 15 important development projects, including the newly constructed Chief Minister’s Camp Office building, during the “Chief Minister’s Strong Sisterhood Festival” program held at the sports ground Chhinigoth, Tanakpur, on Thursday.
At the event held in Tanakpur, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth a total of ₹3630.89 lakh (approximately ₹36.30 crore). These projects aim to strengthen infrastructure and provide accessible services to the public in areas such as education, drinking water, law and order, tourism, and welfare.

Chief Minister Dhami inaugurated a total of 9 development projects from various departments.
Inauguration of the Chief Minister’s Camp Office Building in Tanakpur – Constructed by the Provincial Division, Public Works Department, Champawat at a cost of ₹45.00 lakh, this building features modern facilities.
The Chief Minister stated, “This camp office will not only serve as an administrative building but also as a solution center for public problems. This will further strengthen communication and coordination between the local population and the administration.”
In addition, the Government Primary School, Phagpur, and Junior High School, Phagpur, were converted into smart classrooms and equipped with modern facilities (₹76.40 lakh).
The building of the Government Primary School, Bhajanpur, was renovated (₹74.50 lakh).
Construction of two classrooms at David Painter School, Gudmi (₹16.00 lakh).
Bhainsiyakhal Pumped Drinking Water Scheme (₹136.77 lakh).
Bichai Pumped Drinking Water Scheme (₹182.61 lakh).
Establishment of a city control room at the Kotwali Tanakpur campus and supply of equipment and materials for improving traffic management (₹239.05 lakh).
Upgradation of the remaining rooms and hall of the Tourist Rest House, Tanakpur (₹68.00 lakh).
Repair of the road from the Tanakpur Power Station main gate to Patni Tiraha, Banbasa by NHPC Banbasa (₹100.00 lakh).
Laying the foundation stone for six projects—at a cost of ₹2692.56 lakh.
Chief Minister Dhami also laid the foundation stone for six important projects.
Construction of an examination hall at Government College, Tanakpur by Bridkul Haldwani (₹826.99 lakh).
Ladigad Purnagiri Pumping Drinking Water Scheme by Jal Sansthan (₹811.70 lakh).
Thuligad/Babligad Pumping Drinking Water Scheme (₹712.87 lakh).
Construction of a multipurpose building for the Buksa and Raji tribes in village Khirdwari (₹60.00 lakh).
Establishment of a Block Public Health Unit at the Primary Health Center, Banbasa (₹50.00 lakh).
Construction of a shed for pilgrims visiting Maa Purnagiri Dham by NHPC Banbasa in village Chuka, Tanakpur (₹231.00 lakh).
The Chief Minister said, “The completion of these projects will give a new direction to the social, economic, and educational development of the Tanakpur region. This investment will become the foundation for the all-round upliftment of the border region.”
Chief Minister Hands Over the “Keys to Happiness” to Women of Self-Help Groups
Chief Minister Dhami presented five e-rickshaws to the women of the Prerana Self-Help Group (SHG) under the REAP Project. The Chief Minister personally handed over the “Keys to Happiness” e-rickshaws to the representatives of the women’s group, stating that this initiative marks a new beginning towards women’s economic independence and social empowerment.
Chief Minister Dhami said, “This e-rickshaw is not just a vehicle, but a new symbol of women’s self-reliance and dignity. Through this, women will not only earn better incomes but also establish a strong presence in a traditionally male-dominated sector like public transport.”
He said that the state government’s goal is to establish women not as “assistant recipients” but as “empowered entrepreneurs.” He explained that self-help groups will be provided with all possible financial, technical, and training support to collectively establish such enterprises, so that women can achieve self-reliance and inspire other women.
The Chief Minister also said that such efforts will not only strengthen the rural economy but will also “become a means of connecting women power to new opportunities and respect.”
