New Delhi: The month of Ramadan has started from today. On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated on the beginning of the month of Ramadan. He said that as the holy month of Ramadan is starting, it should bring peace and harmony in our society. This holy month is a symbol of self-reflection, gratitude and devotion, which reminds us of the values ​​of compassion, kindness and service.

9th month Ramadan

Let us tell you that the month of Ramadan holds special importance in Islam. In this month, people of the Muslim community keep fasts and worship God. It is considered one of the five pillars of Islam and it is the 9th month of the year.

Why is this month special?

According to Islamic belief, the descent of the holy book Quran also started from one night of this month. This night is called ‘Laylatul Qadr or Shab-e-Qadr’. After this night, the Quran continued to be descended on Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in a sequential manner till he left the world. Verses of the Quran were revealed to Prophet Muhammad on different occasions.

Month of Magfirat

The month of Ramadan starts after seeing the moon and then ends only after seeing the moon. After the end of Ramadan, people of the Muslim community celebrate the festival of Eid-ul-Fitr. Muslims consider this month as a month of worship and respect it a lot. All Muslims start preparing for this month even before its beginning. This month is also called the month of Magfirat i.e. forgiveness.
