Dehradun: The process of appointing DFO in-charge in Uttarakhand Forest Department has started. The government is now going to appoint DFO in-charge in these vacant divisions, completely ending the system of double charge. For this, the Forest Minister and officials at the government level have also deliberated. It is believed that soon DFOs will be appointed in-charge in various divisions.
Decision to appoint DFO in-charge
Actually, the Forest Department has now decided to appoint DFO in-charge in divisions with more than one charge. The special thing is that for a long time, the Assistant Forest Conservator was also waiting to become the DFO in-charge, but despite the matter being considered for a long time, a decision was not being taken at the government level.
Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal has held talks with the government officials and senior officers of the Forest Department to appoint DFO in-charge in the divisions. During this, the formula for appointing DFO in-charge was also discussed. Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal said that soon the charge of divisions will be given to various Assistant Forest Conservators. For this, talks have been held with the officials at the department level.
The decision to give charge will not be taken on the basis of seniority
It is reported that Assistant Forest Conservators (ACF) in the Forest Department will not be given new responsibility on the basis of seniority. For this, the names of Assistant Forest Conservators will be decided on the basis of suggestions given at the level of the Forest Department.
However, in the Uttarakhand Forest Department, earlier also Assistant Forest Conservators were handling the responsibility of various divisions. Due to the shortage of Indian Forest Service officers in the state, the decision to give responsibility to Assistant Forest Conservators was taken earlier. On this basis, many officers were given the responsibility of the division.
The newly appointed ACF is less likely to get a chance
Recently, the state has got about 45 ACFs, who have been given their first posting some time ago. However, their seniority has been fixed with the forest department officials who become SDO through promotion, but it has been said that the newly appointed ACF does not have field experience in the department and this is the reason why the chances of them being made the in-charge DFO seem less at the moment.
However, it is also being said that the forest department officials are in favor of making the in-charge DFO on the basis of seniority, but seniority is not required to give charge. Along with this, the departmental minister seems to be in favor of making the in-charge DFO on the basis of experience.
