Dehradun: Uniform Civil Code will be implemented in Uttarakhand in January 2025. At present, officers and employees are being given training related to the use of Uniform Civil Code. As soon as this training is completed, Uniform Civil Code will be implemented in the state. All preparations have been completed for this. In this way, Uttarakhand will become the first state in the country to implement Uniform Civil Code.
Let us tell you that during the winter session in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday 17 December, Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised the Uniform Civil Code of Uttarakhand. At the same time, today on Wednesday 18 December, during the meeting of Uttarakhand Investment and Infrastructure Development Board (UIIDB) in Uttarakhand Secretariat Dehradun, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the state government has completed its homework towards implementing the Uniform Civil Code as per its resolution.
CM Dhami had announced UCC in 2022
He said that after the formation of the new government in the state in March 2022, in the first meeting of the cabinet itself, it was decided to constitute an expert committee to implement the Uniform Civil Code in the state. In this sequence, a five-member expert committee was constituted under the chairmanship of retired judge Ranjana Prakash Desai.
On the basis of the report of the committee, the Uniform Civil Code Bill 2024 was passed by the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly on 7 February 2024. After getting the consent of His Excellency the President on this bill, its notification was issued on 12 March 2024. In this sequence, now the rules of the Uniform Civil Code Uttarakhand 2024 Act have also been prepared. In this way, Uttarakhand is now fully prepared to implement the Uniform Civil Code from January.
Training should be given to officers and employees
He instructed the officials to provide proper training to the personnel to implement the provisions of the code as well as gather all kinds of basic facilities. Also, by keeping as many services online as possible, the convenience of the general public should be taken care of.
The Chief Minister said that in view of the accessibility of the general public, a portal and mobile app have also been prepared to implement the Uniform Civil Code, through which all the facilities of registration and appeal etc. are being made available through online medium.
The CM also said that the State Uniform Civil Code will be implemented in Uttarakhand in January 2025. The Uniform Civil Code law of Uttarakhand will give a new direction to the society by following the basic spirit of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Vishwas.
UCC will open new doors for empowerment of women and children: The CM said that this law will open new doors for empowerment of women and children especially of Devbhoomi. At the same time, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah and said that they first guided the government to implement the Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand. In such a situation, the resolution that the BJP had placed before the public during the assembly elections 2022, that resolution is now being fulfilled. He also said that on Tuesday, inside the Rajya Sabha House, Home Minister Amit Shah and before that Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned the Uniform Civil Code that is going to be implemented in Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand is the first state to move forward to fulfill the resolution of the country and the BJP after the independence of the country. UCC has been made a bill. He also said that the Gangotri of UCC is emerging from Uttarakhand, the benefits of which will be available to the whole country in the coming times.
