Thousands of farmers in the state will not have to pay tax for irrigation, CM approves proposal

Dehradun: There is news of relief for thousands of farmers of the state. Farmers will no longer have to pay tax for irrigation. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved its proposal. A committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to consider the demands of Anganwadi workers, food mothers and ASHAs.

Farmers pay taxes to the state government for irrigation on three and a half lakh hectares of land in the state. The Chief Minister has banned this tax. Farmers will now be able to irrigate their fields without paying taxes. Thousands of farmers with small holdings in the hills will also benefit from this.

A committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary to consider the pending demands of Anganwadi workers, food mothers and ASHA health workers. The committee will consider their demands and submit its report to the government. Anganwadi workers in the state have been agitating in the past over other demands, including declaring them as state employees.
