Dehradun: 6 students died in an Innova car accident in the capital Dehradun on Monday night. In the preliminary investigation, the major reason for the accident was speeding. However, the matter is still being investigated. But after this accident, the transport department is also looking strict now. The transport department has deployed its eight teams on the roads, which will take action against those driving at reckless speed.
20 hours checking campaign will be conducted
The transport department has come into action to prevent accidents caused due to reckless speed, especially at night. From today, Thursday 14 November, the teams of the transport department have started a 20-hour checking campaign in Dehradun city, day and night.
Action will be taken on overspeeding
For this, enforcement teams have also been called to Dehradun from Haridwar, Roorkee, Rishikesh and Vikasnagar. The transport department has formed eight teams. In which four teams will check vehicles from 8 am to 8 pm, while the remaining four teams will conduct checking campaigns on different accident prone routes from 8 pm to 4 am. During checking, the team will take action against overspeeding and other transport and traffic rule breakers.
Orders given to cancel license
After the Almora and Dehradun accident, the Transport Department has made it clear that if any person is found violating traffic rules, strict action will be taken against him. Not only this, orders have been given to directly cancel the driving license in six crimes related to road safety.
Strict action will be taken in six crimes
In these six crimes, driving after drinking alcohol, driving while talking on mobile, driving at reckless speed, jumping red light at crossroads and intersections, overspeeding in a goods vehicle and transporting passengers in a goods vehicle, the license was suspended for three months till now, but now action will be taken to cancel the license directly.
Will be cancelled for 12 months
After this action, the driver will not be able to apply for a new license for 12 months. Along with challaning the vehicle online through cameras, its number will be blocked in the transport department’s software.
RTO Enforcement Shailesh Tiwari said that the transport department has formed 6 teams, in which four teams will check vehicles from 08 am to 08 pm, while the remaining four teams will conduct checking campaigns on different accident prone routes from 08 pm to 04 am.
