Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government has sent financial assistance to the family of Angel Chakma, a student from Tripura. On the instructions of CM Dhami, immediate financial assistance has been sanctioned to Angel’s father, Tarun Prasad Chakma, and the first installment of Rs. 4,12,500 has been released. This amount has been sanctioned under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 and the Protection of Civil Rights Act, 1955.
The case was referred to the District Social Welfare Officer, Dehradun, through Dehradun SSP Ajay Singh, for the immediate sanction of financial assistance to the victim’s family, as per the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. A joint investigation report was obtained from the Vikasnagar SDM and Deputy Superintendent of Police, and the process of approval by the district-level committee was completed.
Financial assistance sent to Angel Chakma’s family: Following this, the financial assistance was sanctioned under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 and the Protection of Civil Rights Act, 1955. The check for the first installment has been sent to Angel Chakma’s father, Tarun Prasad Chakma.
It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had spoken to Angel Chakma’s father, Tarun Prasad Chakma, on the phone on December 29. During the conversation, he expressed his grief over Angel’s murder and said that five accused have already been arrested in the case. A reward has been announced for the arrest of another accused, and he will also be apprehended soon. Angel was murdered in Dehradun.
Uttarakhand government to bear Angel Chakma’s medical expenses: CM Dhami assured the victim’s family of all possible assistance. He said that he was personally saddened by the incident and assured them that the Uttarakhand government would ensure that the culprits receive strict punishment.
