UCC: ‘Land jihad was happening in Uttarakhand, our government stopped it’, CM Dhami said in Mumbai – we did not do any favoritism

Mumbai. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday expressed hope that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) adopted by his state will pave the way for greater equality for all in the country. It will also promote unity among local communities and maintain gender equality. Uttarakhand is the first state in the country to adopt UCC after independence.

Addressing a program in Mumbai, Dhami claimed that “land jihad” was happening in Uttarakhand, which was stopped by his government and encroachment was removed from about five thousand acres of encroached land.

CM Dhami said, the UCC bill passed in the Uttarakhand Assembly was not introduced to show favoritism towards anyone. Our aim is not to target anyone. Our effort is to ensure progress for all, as we strive for the trust and development of all.

Addressing another programme, Dhami said Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mukherjee dedicated his entire life for the unity and integrity of India.
