Dehradun: On the occasion of the 78th Independence Day of the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned the Secular Civil Code in his address from Delhi Red Fort. Since then, a round of discussions has started regarding the term Secular Civil Code. In this episode, there is a possibility of Uniform Civil Code being implemented in Uttarakhand before the State Foundation Day i.e. November 9.
On the question of Secular Civil Code becoming a topic of discussion across the country, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi also mentioned the Constitution of India along with the Secular Civil Court. Along with this, the Supreme Court has also directed the governments from time to time that the Uniform Civil Code should be implemented in the country. This is the basic sentiment of the country, because when the Constitution makers of the country were making the Constitution, it was mentioned in the Constitution that there should be a Uniform Civil Code inside the country.
CM Dhami said that he is proud that the draft of the Uniform Civil Code has been prepared in the state of Uttarakhand. Along with passing the bill, it has also got the approval of the President. In such a situation, a Rules Making and Implementation Committee has been constituted to implement the Uniform Civil Code and prepare the rules, which is doing its work. CM Dhami said that the state government has resolved that the Uniform Civil Code will be implemented in the state before the Uttarakhand State Foundation Day.
