Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan attends state-level Kisan Diwas event, CM Dhami transfers Rs 65.12 crore to farmers’ accounts via DBT

Chamoli: A state-level Kisan Diwas (Farmers’ Day) was organized in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand on Monday, December 29. On this occasion, Union Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami transferred an insurance amount of Rs 65.12 crore to 88,000 farmers through DBT under the weather-based crop insurance scheme.

Along with this, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced the establishment of a “Clean Plant Center” in Uttarakhand at a cost of Rs 100 crore and the provision of an additional budget of Rs 90 crore to the state for the fencing scheme. He also handed over a letter to the Chief Minister sanctioning Rs 1706.94 crore for the construction of 1228.2 km of roads to connect 309 settlements in the state under the PMGSY-4 scheme.

On this occasion, Union Minister Chouhan and Uttarakhand CM Dhami interacted with farmers from various parts of the state and also visited the stalls set up by various departments and women’s groups at the fair. During the program, farmers who have done excellent work in agriculture and related fields were honored with the “Kisan Bhushan Award” under the ATMA scheme, and farmers and groups who have made significant contributions to agriculture by reversing migration were also felicitated.

On this occasion, the Union Agriculture Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central and state governments are continuously serving the people of Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is dedicated to the development of the state and is especially striving for the empowerment of women and farmers. He praised Uttarakhand’s Malta fruit and said that the central government will leave no stone unturned to promote Uttarakhand’s Malta in India and abroad. Although agricultural land is decreasing in Uttarakhand, agricultural production is still increasing. The Union Agriculture Minister said that to prevent farmers’ hard work from going to waste due to poor quality plants, the central government will establish a ‘Clean Plant Center’ in Mukteshwar at a cost of Rs 100 crore. This center will provide farmers with high-quality saplings of fruits such as kiwi, apple, malta, and other citrus fruits.
