Uttarakhand: Another judge recuses himself from IFS Sanjiv Chaturvedi’s case, know what is the matter

Dehradun: Another judge has recused himself from the case related to Indian Forest Service officer Sanjiv Chaturvedi. This time the matter is related to criminal defamation. On which the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate has recused himself from the case.

Indian Forest Service officer Sanjiv Chaturvedi is often in the headlines for various matters. Chaturvedi is also fighting a judicial battle in different courts regarding his services. Meanwhile, this time a case related to criminal defamation of him has come into discussions.

What is the matter? Actually, Sanjiv Chaturvedi had filed a case against Manish Garg, a member of the Central Administrative Tribunal in November 2023. On which further hearing was to be held, but the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Nainital has recused himself from hearing this case of Chaturvedi.

Sanjeev Chaturvedi had alleged that objectionable words were used against him in open court in October 2023 and he considered it as his defamation. He had sought refuge in the High Court regarding the matter, but the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate recused himself from the hearing saying that he has family relations with a member of CAT itself.

A criminal contempt notice has been issued in this case of Sanjeev Chaturvedi. However, now the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate has recused himself citing family relations on this episode. Even before this, judges have recused themselves from various cases related to Sanjeev Chaturvedi.

So far 14 judges have recused themselves: In this way, if we look at the total number, so far 14 judges have recused themselves in the cases related to Sanjeev Chaturvedi. Earlier, many judges have recused themselves from hearing in cases related to Sanjeev Chaturvedi’s services.
