Uttarakhand Cabinet: Big decision…Separate policy will be made for employment of women, youth and ex-servicemen

Gairsain: Separate policies will be made for employment, self-employment of women, youth and ex-servicemen in Uttarakhand. The Dhami cabinet has also approved the schemes for assistance to crime victims and protection of witnesses.

After the proceedings of the House were adjourned on Wednesday, a cabinet meeting was held in Bhararisain under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. It was decided in the meeting that a separate policy would be made for the three categories to increase the means of employment of women, youth and ex-servicemen, skill development, to provide jobs in government and private institutions.

Training will be arranged in the field of preparation for competitive examinations like government service, NEET, nursing, foreign language training, artificial intelligence etc. Youth festivals and employment fairs will be organized at a large scale. ITI, polytechnic and schools will work in mutual coordination to promote vocational education. To connect the youth with employment, work will be done under short-term, medium-term and long-term plans.

To connect the youth and women with self-employment, 200 people will be trained in beekeeping, apple mission and horticulture in the initial phase in every block. Voluntary Consolidation Scheme will be started soon. MoU has been done between the Agriculture Department and ITBP for the purchase of local products of the state, fruits, vegetables, milk. Similarly, MoU will also be done with SSB and other central agencies, which will promote the local products of the state and will also increase the livelihood of the people at the local level. Market linkage will be arranged through the Industry Department to promote local products in the private sector as well. It was decided in the meeting that ex-servicemen working in the state through Upanal will be linked to government schemes to provide them employment and self-employment. Work will be done towards connecting them with services based on their qualifications in various institutions.

Crime Victim Assistance (Amendment) Scheme 2025 approved

Uttarakhand Crime Victim Assistance (Amendment) Scheme 2025 has been approved in the meeting. Home Secretary Shailesh Bagoli said that due to the absence of any clear provision for POCSO victims in the current scheme, the department has to face practical difficulties. To overcome this, this policy has been approved to determine the minimum and maximum compensation amount for POCSO victims.

Approval on the scheme of protection of witnesses also

The government has approved the Uttarakhand Witness Protection Scheme 2025, which will ensure the safety and dignity of witnesses. The objective of this scheme is to provide a safe environment to the witnesses to testify freely and honestly before the court by keeping them free from any kind of fear, pressure or retaliation. Security measures like identity confidentiality, change of location, change of contact details, physical security arrangements and financial assistance as per requirement have been provided at various levels. Confidentiality has been given top priority in all decisions.
