Uttarakhand: Campaign against obesity starts from government departments, CM appoints Additional Chief Secretary as nodal officer

Dehradun: Dehradun On the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government will start the campaign against obesity from government departments. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has appointed Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan as the nodal officer for this campaign. He has directed the ACS to prepare a detailed action plan of the campaign in coordination with all the departments.

During the meeting at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister directed the officials to run the ‘Fit Uttarakhand’ campaign on a wide scale in the state. He said that the main objective of the Fit Uttarakhand campaign is to make the citizens of the state aware of health, hygiene and fitness, so that they can adopt a healthy lifestyle. Educational institutions, government and non-government organizations will also be included in this campaign so that more and more people can benefit from it.

He directed that yoga, exercise and health awareness campaigns should be promoted under the Fit Uttarakhand campaign. Also, sports activities should be encouraged in schools and colleges so that the younger generation can remain physically more active and healthy.

The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for increasing awareness to reduce obesity. He emphasized that people should pay special attention to their food habits and should make a habit of reducing the use of oil in food.
