Dehradun: The Administrative Officers’ Conference-2025 was held for the second day today under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan. At the conference, the District Magistrates of Almora, Pauri Garhwal, Dehradun, Tehri Garhwal, Chamoli, Nainital, and Uttarkashi presented their districts’ best practices. The officials present discussed these initiatives extensively. The District Magistrate of Almora presented on the topic of Sports, Health, and Wellness. He stated that a Sports and Community Fitness Zone has been created to provide better sports facilities to the state’s young athletes and to provide opportunities to new talent. He also stated that 100 children from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) are being provided free coaching and training, along with other assistance.
While giving a presentation on Pirul and Invasive Biomass Livelihoods, the District Magistrate of Pauri stated that biomass is being produced from Pirul with the help of women from self-help groups. This is providing the women with a regular income. Efforts are being made to reduce losses caused by forest fires and wild animals. 1800 tons of Lantana, Pirul, and other harmful vegetation species are being removed through women’s self-help group members, including 280 women.
The District Magistrate of Nainital gave a presentation on Urban Infrastructure & Mobility, presenting a roadmap for goal-based, sustainable development for Nainital city. The Chief Secretary directed all municipal bodies to prepare a roadmap for this. The District Magistrate of Dehradun gave a presentation on efforts to prevent child begging. He stated that a center has been established in Dehradun for the study, play, and skill development of children involved in begging. Efforts are being made to identify such children, bring them out of begging, and empower them. The Municipal Commissioner of Dehradun Municipal Corporation also presented a model designed to address the problems of Dehradun. The District Magistrate of Tehri Garhwal presented on the district’s approach to youth.
He stated that the district has focused on self-employment and skill development to motivate youth towards self-employment and positive activities. He proposed the development of capsule courses, mobility support, career hubs, and flexible skilling pathways for youth. The District Magistrate of Uttarkashi presented on the damage caused by the devastating disaster in Dharali and the work being done to prevent it in the future. He presented a project on Ecology and Livelihood, which was appreciated. The Chief Secretary praised the innovative models in sports, green livelihoods, and youth empowerment.
He directed all officials to enhance the best practices of the district and integrate future plans with the developed Uttarakhand 2047. Principal Secretaries RK Sudhanshu, LL Fanai and R Meenakshi Sundaram along with other concerned officials were present at the conference.
