Dehradun: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan met Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Railway Board Satish Kumar in New Delhi and discussed in detail about strengthening rail connectivity in the state, speedy implementation of new rail projects, and progress of previous proposals. The Chief Secretary also met National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and discussed various issues related to the state.
The Chief Secretary informed the Chairman of the Railway Board that there are a total of five rail projects in the state, out of which three are proposed and two projects including Rishikesh-Karnprayag are currently being operated. Gangotri Yamunotri Rail Project whose total distance is 121.76 km and there are 10 stations. Its survey work has been completed and DPR has been made available to the Railway Board. Approval is awaited on this. Tanakpur Bageshwar Rail Project whose total distance is 170.70 km and there are 12 stations. Its survey work has been completed and DPR has been made available to the Railway Board. Approval is awaited on this. Dehradun-Saharanpur Rail Project whose total distance is 92.60 km and it has 8 stations. Its survey work is in progress.
On this occasion, the survey work of Dehradun-Saharanpur Rail Project is in progress. The doubling of Haridwar-Dehradun railway line and development of Harrawala railway station of Dehradun were also discussed. Apart from this, the possibilities of expansion of Regional Rapid Transit System from Meerut to Haridwar were also discussed. The Chief Secretary said that in Uttarakhand, connecting the inaccessible hilly areas with the rail network, industrial, economic and social development of the state, smooth movement of devotees throughout the year in world famous Dhams, pilgrimages and development of railways from the point of view of strategic importance is very important for the state.
