Uttarakhand: CM Dhami Expresses Anger Over Failure to Collect Green Cess from Vehicles from Other States, Reprimands Officials

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed displeasure over the delay in starting the collection of green cess from vehicles coming to Uttarakhand from other states. He reprimanded the officials for this delay. Now, transport officials are claiming that they will start collecting green cess through FASTag from January 1st.

The government had decided to collect green cess from vehicles coming to Uttarakhand from other states. Its rates have also been revised once. Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras have been installed in all the border areas of Uttarakhand. As soon as a vehicle enters the Uttarakhand border, this camera will scan its number plate, and the green cess amount will be deducted from the FASTag account based on that.

On Thursday, when Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami was holding a review meeting on revenue collection, he expressed strong displeasure over the failure to start green cess collection. Starting this collection will increase the state’s revenue. Transport department officials say that although the preparations are complete, they have not yet received the trial link from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

Deputy Transport Commissioner Shailesh Kumar Tiwari said that as soon as the link is received from NPCI, a trial will be conducted. As soon as the trial is successful, green cess collection will begin. Joint Transport Commissioner SK Singh announced to the media that it would be implemented from January 1st.
