Delhi/Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid a courtesy call to Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi. He made several requests to the Union Minister, including keeping the Air Force Audit Branch in Dehradun. Chief Minister Dhami stated that the Air Force Audit Branch has been operating in Dehradun without interruption for a long time.
Because the state shares borders with China and Nepal and houses several important military and security forces establishments, Dehradun holds immense strategic importance. He requested the Defense Minister to issue necessary guidelines to ensure that the Air Force Audit Branch continues to operate from Dehradun.
The Chief Minister requested that the maintenance and upkeep of the Gwaldam-Nandkesari-Tharali-Dewal-Mundoli-Van motor road remain with the Uttarakhand Public Works Department in the future. He stated that this route is a key route for the world-famous Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra, the next of which is scheduled for 2026.
For the smooth conduct of this important event, linked to the state’s religious and cultural heritage, it is essential that the Public Works Department maintain the route locally. The Chief Minister stated that, given local conditions, coordination, and prompt execution, the Public Works Department is the best department for maintaining this route, which will greatly facilitate the upcoming Yatra and local transportation. The Defense Minister assured the Chief Minister that he would consider all aspects positively.
