Nainital: Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat conducted a field inspection of the protective and development works being done on Nainital Baliyanale. Protective works are being done by the Irrigation Department under the guidance of IIT to prevent incidents of landslides in Baliyanale. Kumaon Commissioner directed the implementing agency and the concerned engineer to do the work with high quality and cleanliness. Deepak Rawat also studied the master plan of the work.
Chief Engineer Irrigation Department said that the slope of the hill has increased due to landslides towards Baliyanale, due to which the existence of the nearby residential families has been threatened. That is why the GIC Inter College operating here earlier has also been replaced with another college and students are being taught by operating it. To provide stability to the hill that has cracked due to landslides, work is being done to reduce the slope of the hill through self-drilling anchoring, piling, shortcut, rainforesting, geo textile and slope. This work is being done by distributing it in many parts in view of the geographical situation.
At the same time, Commissioner Deepak Rawat also reprimanded the officials of the Irrigation Department and the working contractor for the negligence in the work being done in the Baliyanala area. Also, the work being done in different phases was thoroughly inspected. During this, Deepak Rawat himself also got excavation done at many places to check the quality of the material being used in the construction work.
Deepak Rawat said that Baliyanala is very important for the existence of Nainital. Therefore, negligence at any level in its work will not be tolerated. If negligence is found in the work, strict action will also be taken against the concerned officials and the contractor.
