Uttarakhand: Corruption case to be filed against Transport Corporation DGM Bhupendra Kumar, CM recommends

Dehradun: Vigilance has been ordered to file a case against Transport Corporation DGM (Finance) Bhupendra Kumar for possessing disproportionate assets. Earlier, after two years of open investigation, the Vigilance had sought permission for the case from the Vigilance Committee, on which the Chief Minister has given his recommendation.

It is worth noting that in May 2023, the State Corporation Employees-Officers Federation had sent a letter to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami alleging corruption against DGM Bhupendra Kumar. It is alleged that Bhupendra Kumar has transferred a huge amount from the bus owners contracted in the corporation to the bank accounts of family members. Lakhs of rupees have also been taken in cash.

The Federation had also provided the names and bank account details of Bhupendra Kumar’s family members at that time. On this, the Chief Minister had directed the Vigilance to conduct an open inquiry against Bhupendra Kumar. Vigilance started investigation against Bhupendra Kumar in June 2023 for acquiring property disproportionate to his income. For this, Vigilance kept the check period between January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2023. Now after two years of investigation, Vigilance had recently sent a report to the Vigilance Committee recommending a case.

The investigation report states that Bhupendra Kumar has earned an income of Rs 1,82,37,376 from various known sources during the check period. In comparison, he has spent a total of Rs 2,42,02,050 during this period. This is Rs 59,64,674 more than the total income. A meeting of the State Vigilance Committee was held on this report on June 30, 2025. In this meeting, various allegations and their relative facts were discussed under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister. After intense deliberations, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami recommended filing a case against DGM Bhupendra Kumar for acquiring assets disproportionate to his income. Vigilance may soon file a case in this matter.
