Dehradun: Chief Secretary Smt. Radha Raturi has given instructions in public interest to compulsorily publicize this information at all construction and work sites that the workers/ labourers coming to Uttarakhand from other states are also being given ration through their ration card. In this case, the state of Uttarakhand is ranked 6th in the country, this is an excellent record. Along with this, in the meeting of the State Level Evaluation and Monitoring Committee of the Department of Women Empowerment and Child Development on Friday, CS Smt Radha Raturi approved the formation of State Resource Center for Integrated Data Base at the Directorate level. This State Resource Center will provide real time data. She also instructed the concerned Secretary to immediately issue instructions to all the District Magistrates to issue a circular for ban on child labor in residential colonies in the districts. The Chief Secretary has instructed the Education Department to make arrangements for education in residential schools and hostels for girls rescued from child marriage.
Taking seriously the issue of high number of cases of child marriage in Pithoragarh and Haridwar districts and human trafficking in Champawat, CS Smt Raturi has issued instructions to the department to prepare separate action plans for each district. She also asked for a report clarifying the status of all departments, government organizations, authorities, public sector undertakings, institutions, bodies, etc. regarding the formation of mandatory internal complaint committees in relation to complaints of sexual harassment at the workplace. Along with this, the Chief Secretary also directed the NGOs, social service institutions and departments present in the meeting to prepare a report related to the participation of women in the workforce in the state and an action plan to increase women’s participation in the workforce.
Taking cognizance of the figures of the percentage of girl child dropouts by the School Education Department in the state, Chief Secretary Smt. Radha Raturi has given strict instructions to the officials that a clear list of the names of the girls who have left their studies in the state should be compiled as soon as possible so that work can be done on the action plan to connect them again to education. In this regard, she advised the officials to work pro-actively, leaving aside the formalities.
Taking seriously the matter of the mortality rate of women and children being higher than other districts due to anemia among pregnant women in Haridwar district, the Chief Secretary asked a report of the action taken in this regard from the Medical Department.
Secretary Chandresh Kumar, Vinod Kumar Suman along with officials of Home Department, Finance Department, Women Empowerment and Child Development Department, representatives of Bachpan Bachao Andolan were present in the meeting.
