Dehradun: There are 85 such non-territorial ranges in Uttarakhand forest department. In which range officers are not present for a long time. Due to the huge shortage of rangers in the department, it is becoming difficult to fill these posts. The special thing is that the total number of non-territorial ranges in the state is 100. In this way, most of the ranges are running without rangers. In view of these conditions, there has been a constant demand to deploy deputy rangers as in-charge rangers. Soon, out of about 85 ranges in the state, in-charge rangers will be deployed in 51 ranges.

A decision could not be taken due to procrastination from the forest headquarters to the government level regarding the deployment of deputy rangers as in-charge rangers. The big thing is that the dilemma in this matter has arisen due to an order of the government itself, on the basis of which the rangers of the department itself have increased the problems of the government in the High Court. However, the matter of relief for the Uttarakhand Forest Department is that now the government has given permission in this regard and issued an order to make deputy rangers in-charge rangers.

Deputy rangers can be posted in these 82 ranges as in-charge rangers. At present, if seen on the basis of seniority, there are only 51 deputy rangers who fulfill the standard of seniority as in-charge rangers. On the other hand, there are 59 deputy rangers who are looking after the work of rangers despite not having seniority as per the system. There is also a situation of resentment within the department due to the senior deputy ranger not getting the charge and the junior being given the work of the range as per the system.

Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal said that there is a huge shortage of rangers in the department and in such a situation, a list will be released soon to deploy the deputy ranger as in-charge ranger. Apart from this, the junior deputy rangers who have been given charge as per arrangement will also be considered. However, he has not considered it wrong to give the work of range to junior deputy rangers as per arrangement.
