Uttarakhand: Direct recruitment rules for Principal approved in cabinet meeting, big good news for these people

Dehradun: There is a huge shortage of principals in the schools run in the state under the Uttarakhand Education Department. At present, a total of 1385 posts of Principal are approved in the Education Department. In comparison to which only 205 Principals are posted. That is, 1180 posts of Principal are lying vacant. In such a situation, the Education Department had prepared a proposal to amend the Uttarakhand State Educational (Teaching Cadre) Gazetted Service Rules- 2022 for the recruitment of Principals. Which has been approved in the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday.

After the amendment in the direct recruitment rules of the Principal, now people have hope that the recruitment of Principals will start soon. According to the proposal sent by the Education Department, three rules of Uttarakhand State Educational (Teaching Cadre) Gazetted Service Rules- 2022 have been amended. Provision has been made to amend the source of recruitment in Rule-5 of the rules, age limit in Rule-6 and mandatory educational/training qualification in Rule-8. Cabinet has approved this.

Who will be eligible:

  • Principals who have completed 2 years of service on the first day of the recruitment year/basically appointed lecturers who have completed 10 years of service/assistant teachers (LT) promoted to the post of lecturer who have completed 10 years of service as lecturer, besides this, it has been decided to include them in the limited departmental examination for the post of Principal. Under this, teachers promoted to the post of lecturer who have completed 15 years of service combined as lecturer and assistant teacher (LT). Assistant teachers (LT) originally appointed who have completed a minimum of 15 years of satisfactory service on this post. Along with this, all those who possess the mandatory educational/training qualification will be eligible for the limited departmental examination.
  • Non B.Ed. lecturers will also be eligible for the limited departmental examination being conducted for the first time for recruitment to the post of Principal.
  • The age of the candidate for the limited departmental examination is being increased from 50 years to 55 years on 1st July of the calendar year in which the recruitment advertisement is issued.
