What did DFO Vaibhav Kumar say? Addressing the women who have become forest guards after completing their training, Chakrata DFO Vaibhav Kumar said that while discharging their duties, forest department employees face major challenges amidst social issues and incidents of human-wildlife conflict. Even in adverse circumstances, forest department employees are on duty in the forests 24 hours a day, which is a courageous and responsible job.
The women forest guards looked happy about getting their duty: The trained women forest guards said that they are getting an opportunity to serve in the Forest Department, which is a matter of pride for them and their families. They said that wildlife are mute creatures who cannot speak or express their problems. They are getting an opportunity to serve them.
They said that during the training, they were taught how to rescue wild animals, how to gather information about wild animals and their habitats, and other related things. They will implement what they learned during the training in their field service. They also praised the Forestry Training Center Rampur Mandi.
The women forest guards said that they have learned about forest laws, how to do plantation, which species grow where, and how to conserve different species. Because many trees and plants are becoming extinct due to climate change, they were taught how to conserve those species. “This is the 110th batch to graduate from the forestry training center in Rampur Mandi, under the Chakrata Forest Division. This is the first time that 43 female forest guards have completed the 6-month training program. These are the most basic unit in the chain of wildlife protection and forest management, the first-line employees. Trained personnel are an asset to the department, who perform their duties while facing various responsibilities and challenges.”
