Uttarakhand: Good news for MNREGA workers, they will benefit from worker welfare schemes; registration process begins

Dehradun: MNREGA workers in Uttarakhand will also benefit from schemes run by the Uttarakhand Building and Other Industrial Workers Welfare Board. The registration process for MNREGA workers has begun, which Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated at the Chief Minister’s camp office on Tuesday. During the launch of the MNREGA workers’ registration process, the Chief Minister stated that the state government is working with the development of the last person in society at its core.

Addressing the program, CM Dhami stated that this registration will enable MNREGA workers to benefit from all social security schemes of the Uttarakhand Building and Other Industrial Workers Welfare Board. The state government is also working to empower the last person in society by providing them with health, education, and employment opportunities. There are 1.63 million workers registered under MNREGA in the state, of which 9.5 million are actively working. Workers who work a minimum of 90 days a year will now be able to benefit from the Uttarakhand Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board’s schemes.

The Chief Minister stated that the number of workers currently registered with the Board is 5.35 million. With the inclusion of MNREGA workers in the scheme, the benefits of the Board’s services will be accessible to millions of other workers. The government is striving to ensure the welfare of workers in the state while also encouraging industries and investors. Creating a better environment in the state is essential to promote industry. The mining sector alone provides employment to millions of people in various ways. Previously, there was a negative perception about mining, but government policies have broken this perception. This is why mining revenue, which was previously only ₹400 crore, has now increased to ₹1,200 crore.

In recognition of the improvements made in the mining sector, the Central Government has also provided assistance of ₹200 crore to the state. The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasizes ease of doing business. In line with this, the government is providing facilities like a single-window system for industries. The government’s effort is to ensure that investors are not entangled in unnecessary formalities.

This scheme is being implemented through the joint efforts of the Labor Department and the Rural Development Department. He said that on the Chief Minister’s instructions, workers are being registered on the online portal. Now, MNREGA workers will be registered on the portal at the development block level.
