Energy employees in the state will not be able to go on strike for the next 6 months. Energy Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram has issued an order for this. Actually, Energy Corporation is included in the most essential services, so continuous efforts are made at the management and government level to ensure that employees do not go on strike in the corporations. The special thing is that from time to time orders have also been issued to ban the strike of employees. This time again the Uttarakhand government has issued an order related to the ban on strike in energy corporations. According to the order, the employees of energy corporations will be banned from going on strike for the next 6 months due to their demands or other reasons.
There is a constant crisis of energy in Uttarakhand, especially during summers, the energy corporation seems to be in a lot of trouble due to the shortage of electricity. This situation prevails when electricity has to be bought every day from the center as well as from the market due to shortage. However, with the arrival of monsoon, the demand for electricity has decreased. But during the monsoon days, due to silt in the rivers, the production also decreases. Obviously, in view of the problems related to electricity, the government has banned the strike for 6 months. This order of the government will be applicable to all three corporations, Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam, Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited and Power Transmission Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited.
Actually, there are many such demands of the employees of the energy corporation in the state, regarding which they have been protesting from time to time. Not only this, the engineers and employee organizations of the energy corporation have been warning of going on strike on such demands. Perhaps this is the reason that the government does not want to allow a strike situation to arise amidst the shortage of electricity at the moment. Therefore, such an order has been issued. On the other hand, the employee organizations also appear to be under pressure of these orders of the government.
