Dehradun: There is news of relief for 40 thousand Anganwadi workers and assistants of the state. There is a preparation to give them free treatment facility and one lakh rupees on retirement. A proposal is being prepared by the department.
According to Women Empowerment and Child Development Minister Rekha Arya, Anganwadi workers are currently given Rs 30 thousand on retirement, which is being considered to be increased to one lakh rupees. There are 20 Anganwadi workers and so many assistants in the state, who have been demanding pension and other facilities for a long time.
According to the officials of the department, in the meeting of the Women Empowerment and Child Development Department recently, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had given instructions to consider the possibilities of bringing Anganwadi workers and assistants under ESI. Instructions were given by the Chief Minister that the concerned department should prepare a framework of schemes related to child development and women welfare by holding a meeting under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary.
According to Secretary Planning R Meenakshi Sundaram, Anganwadi workers will have to make some contribution to bring them under ESI. At the same time, the concerned department will also have to make budget arrangements for this. A meeting has already been held on this issue during his tenure as Labor Secretary.
By coming under ESI, they will be able to get free treatment in ESI hospitals, its affiliated or other hospitals. However, the department also says that all Anganwadi workers and assistants are also being given the benefit of Atal Ayushman Yojana.
Many works are taken from Anganwadi workers in the state. These days they have been engaged in the work of verification of voter list. If they are given facilities with their minimum contribution, then Anganwadi workers are ready for it.
