Uttarkashi: Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (retd) visited the disaster-hit Dharali Harshil and Mukhaba of Uttarkashi district yesterday. During this, Governor Gurmeet Singh met the affected families and took stock of the relief and security operations. The Governor met the affected families from Dharali Harshil in Mukhaba and assured them of all possible support.
In Mukhaba, the Governor took detailed information about the progress of disaster management, relief and security operations. During this, he took information about the ongoing relief and security measures from the district administration, Army, NDRF, SDRF and other security agencies. The Governor especially praised the soldiers of the 14 Rajputana Regiment, who, despite being affected by the disaster themselves, actively contributed to the relief and rescue operations. He described it as an inspirational example of true service to humanity and courageous dedication.
Let us tell you that on August 5, Kheer Ganga caused great devastation in Dharali of Uttarkashi district. Dharali market was completely washed away in this disaster. Hotels, lodges, buildings and shops were destroyed in the grip of the disaster. At the same time, along with considerable damage to apple trees in the Dharali disaster, the cultivation of kidney beans in large quantities in this area has also been damaged. Not only have people lost their businesses in Dharali, but the farmers are also facing a crisis of future livelihood. According to the Agriculture Department, agriculture has been damaged in 7.30 hectares of area in Uttarkashi district. Out of which 3.10 hectares of agriculture has been damaged in Dharali area.
