Uttarakhand govt approves Rajasthan request for relocation of 4 tigers

Rishikesh: The Uttarakhand govt on Saturday approved the translocation of four tigers to Rajasthan, responding to a plea from the authorities in the western state. Additionally, Uttarakhand is considering a similar appeal from Odisha for the relocation of three tigers.

Principal chief conservator of forests Sameer Sinha said the selection process for these tigers has commenced.

He added the chosen tigers will be sourced from the buffer zone of forests, adhering to the guidelines set by the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA).

Acknowledging Uttarakhand’s expertise in tiger relocation, both states have expressed interest in acquiring relocation training for personnel.
