Dehradun: Health Secretary and Commissioner of Food Safety and Drug Administration Dr. R Rajesh Kumar did a surprise inspection of FDA (Food and Drug Administration) headquarters. During this, he closely reviewed the departmental work. Officials also gave a presentation on departmental activities.

Whose goal is to create a safe, healthy and drug-free society. He said that after the formation of the Quick Response Team, more than 450 medicine shops have been raided so far. 65 manufacturing units have been raided.

Instructions to curb fake medicines: Dr. Rajesh Kumar said that the officials have been asked to further intensify surveillance action in the areas bordering Nepal. To curb narcotics and fake medicines, the department is further intensifying coordination with STF and police. Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar told the officials that the action of raids on fake medicines and narcotics cases should be speeded up, so that strict action can be ensured against the culprits. Because the quality of medicine is not only a matter of health but also of the trust of the society.

Testing capacity increased with lab and mobile van: During the inspection, Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar also inspected the food and cosmetic lab. During this, he got the samples tested and also took information on the reporting system. He told the officials that transparency and strictness should be maintained at every level. He told that the department currently has three mobile vans, through which samples are filled everywhere. In the next 2 to 3 months, 10 more modern mobile vans are going to be received. Its approval has been received from the Central Government.

New steps to strengthen enforcement work: During this time many important decisions were also taken to strengthen the departmental work. These include giving clear targets of enforcement operations to the newly appointed 18 drug inspectors, bringing uniformity in the maintenance of records, ensuring effective advocacy of pending cases in the court, conducting workshops for filing suit and analysis and documentation.

Let us tell you that many factories manufacturing fake medicines on a large scale have been busted in Uttarakhand. In recent times, action has been taken against many fake drug factories in Haridwar, Vikasnagar and Kotdwar.
