Nainital: The High Court heard the PIL filed in the case of misuse of funds released for the district by the then District Magistrate of Nainital during his tenure. The entire matter is between the years 2021 to 2023. After hearing the case, the division bench of Chief Justice G Narendra and Justice Alok Mehra has asked the CBI along with the state government to submit their reply. Along with this, the court has issued a notice to the then District Magistrate Dhiraj Garbyal to present his reply.
According to the case, Noida resident Sanjay Gupta has filed a PIL saying that from the year 2021 to 2023, the then District Magistrate of Nainital has misused the government funds released for the district. He did not use this money in public interest but used it for his personal interest. On complaining, the entire matter was investigated by CAG. CAG admitted in its report that government funds have been misused. On this, he also complained to the government and demanded action on the report. But till now the government has not taken any action on the CAG report.
In the PIL, the former District Magistrate has been accused of misusing the budget released for the district. For example, he used the District Mining Fund for his personal interests. After using it, the rates of that land were increased. The nature of SC ST land was changed and sold. He gave arms licenses to people of the restricted area against the rules. Government money was also misused in the name of beautification of Nainital city. Now the government is not taking any action on the CAG report. In the PIL, the court has been requested to get this case investigated by the CBI.
