Dehradun: There are indications of DM being changed in some important districts of Uttarakhand. There is also news of homework being done for this at the state government level. Actually, in the previous transfer list, changes could not be made at the district level. The reason behind which was considered to be the start of Chardham Yatra. Since then it was expected that after the Yatra runs smoothly for some time, necessary changes will be made at the district level.
At present, there are discussions about changes being made soon in Haridwar district. It is believed that an experienced officer from a big hill district can be brought to Haridwar. However, there is news of other options also being considered. Similarly, changes are expected in another hill district in Garhwal division, while in Kumaon division, districts which have not seen any change for a long time can also be included in the list. The state government can also work on a special formula regarding the responsibility of the District Magistrate post, so that IAS officers who have not been able to look after any district till now can get priority and officers who have been stuck for a long time can be changed. On the other hand, Dehradun District Magistrate Sanvin Bansal has also reached the secretary level now, so he can be brought back to the government.
Similarly, Nainital district has also been in discussions for a long time in this matter. It is not just about the change of District Magistrates, but at the government level also, officers who have been satisfied with light responsibilities for a long time can get something bigger. On the other hand, there are some officers who have many responsibilities. In such a situation, some departments can be given to such officers, who are expected to be brought back to the government from the districts. Discussions were going on in the government regarding the extension of service of 2005 IAS officer Harishchandra Semwal, however, now there are little hopes of extension of service of Harishchandra Semwal.
Harish Chand Semwal is retiring on 31 May. At present, Harishchandra Semwal is looking after the responsibility of Excise Commissioner, Food and also Secretary Food. On the other hand, the Central Government has decided to send IRS officer Jitendra Sonkar, who has been looking after the responsibility of various departments on deputation in Uttarakhand for a long time, to his original department. For this, DOPT has also issued a letter related to ending the deputation. In this way, Jitendra Sonkar will also return to his original department soon, due to which the responsibility of Additional Secretary Planning and Youth Welfare Department will also be vacant.
