Uttarakhand Monsoon Session: Seven Bills passed and two handed over to Select Committee, Assembly adjourned indefinitely

Gairsain: On Friday, seven bills were passed in the Assembly and two were handed over to the Select Committee. With this, the Assembly was adjourned indefinitely.

At the same time, during the question hour, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the electricity prepaid meter system is in the interest of the state and the general consumers. It also has an alarm system in view of recharge. He said that a decision will be taken according to the financial resources regarding relief to the farmers in the bill or taking other steps.

It was also said that the problems related to high electricity bills and malfunctioning of meters will also be resolved soon. Chief Minister Dhami said these things in the House in response to the short notice question of MLA Mamta Rakesh on Friday, the third day of the monsoon session of the Assembly.

Demonstration of Mahila Congress

At the same time, Mahila Congress demonstrated at Diwalikhal barrier on Friday. Today, the Congress Mahila Morcha marched to Bhararisain with various demands including punishment to the culprits in the Ankita murder case. Due to tight police security, women protesters were stopped at Diwalikhal.

Hundreds of women protesters who were going to Bhararisain Vidhan Sabha were stopped by the police at the barrier itself. Women protesters also sat on the road and raised slogans against the state government.

Question related to giving discount in electricity bill to poor and farmers

MLA Mamta Rakesh raised the issue of smart electricity meter and giving discount in electricity bill to poor and farmers through short notice question. Along with this, she also demanded that farmers should be given free electricity for 24 hours on the lines of Uttar Pradesh. In response to the question, she was given detailed information about prepaid metering system, tariff etc.

10 villages and semi-urban areas affected by disaster in Badrinath area

So far 10 villages and semi-urban areas are affected by the disaster in Badrinath assembly constituency of Chamoli district. 60 roads were obstructed due to the disaster, out of which traffic has been restored on 48 and work is going on to open the remaining.

During the Question Hour, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Premchand Agarwal gave this information to the House in reply to a short notice question of MLA Lakhpat Singh Butola. He also informed that 41 families from Urgam Badginda, six from Bola, three each from Ropa and Bhadkoti and four from village Godigivala have been displaced.

The Parliamentary Affairs Minister said that the government is working seriously to deal with the disaster. During the same short notice question, Deputy Leader of Opposition Bhuvan Chandra Kapri raised the issue of waterlogging and collapse of cowshed in Khatima.

On this, Animal Husbandry Minister Saurabh Bahuguna informed that the tender for construction of cowshed in Khatima has been cancelled. Also, a new place has been asked to be identified. MLA Sumit Hridayesh wanted to know about the construction of safety wall on three major drains of Haldwani.
