Uttarakhand: Preparations for mock drill complete; air raid siren to sound at 4 pm today, practice to be held in five areas

Dehradun: The administration and civil defence have completed preparations for the mock drill to be held today on Wednesday. The mock drill will begin with the air raid siren sounding at 4 pm. For this, practice will be done to take people to safe places. Civil defence volunteers will conduct such practice in five areas of the city.

A meeting was held with civil defence under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Savin Bansal regarding the mock drill. During this, all the preparations were discussed. Earlier, the air raid sirens installed at Araghar Chowki, Dhara Chowki, NIEPVD, Collectorate and Lakkhibagh police post in the city were inspected. Air raid sirens were found in good condition at all places. The mock drill will be started at 4 pm.

For this, practice will be done to take people out of big residential buildings, government buildings and take them to safe places. If any challenge or flaw is found in this exercise, it will be rectified. For this, the response time will be tested the most. For example, how long did it take for the Civil Defense to take charge when the siren sounded.

People will also be warned of dangers

During the mock drill, people will also be warned of future dangers. How people can save their lives during an air raid, all this information will be given in this mock drill. Also, awareness will be created about what things people should keep with them and what to avoid in case of a blackout. The local police has also been put on alert mode regarding this.

All preparations have been completed for the mock drill. The District Magistrate Dehradun held a meeting with the Warden of Civil Defense and took stock of all the preparations. Air raid sirens are installed at a total of nine places in the city. These sirens, which sound during air strikes in war, were tested in June 2023.
