Dehradun: In the State Startup Ecosystem Ranking (5th edition) released by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, Uttarakhand has been recognized as a ‘Leader’ in developing a robust startup ecosystem. For this achievement, the Department of Industries, Government of Uttarakhand, was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation on the occasion of National Startup Day.
This recognition clearly demonstrates that Uttarakhand has successfully promoted innovation, entrepreneurship, investment, and self-employment among its youth through its startup policy, which is now being appreciated at the national level. Uttarakhand’s achievement is also being viewed as a model at the national level.
Commenting on the state’s achievement, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “This honor is a matter of pride for Uttarakhand. Our government has developed favorable policies, simplified procedures, and a strong ecosystem to promote startups. The youth of the state have immense potential for innovation, and the government is providing them with support at every level. This achievement is the result of the collective efforts of all the entrepreneurs, startups, and officials of the state.”
It is noteworthy that the Uttarakhand government provides incentives to connect young people with employment through various startup policies. The government also provides loans to young people, which include provisions for subsidies. This significantly helps young people in starting their own businesses.
On the other hand, with the government’s loan and subsidy incentives, many young people have started startups in their own villages. This has not only curbed migration but also enabled these young people to provide employment to other villagers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also interacted with such young people several times through his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program to encourage them.
