Uttarakhand: The picture of slums will improve, Chief Secretary summoned the District Magistrates for a report in 15 days

Dehradun: Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has ordered to send the report of identification of slums to the government in 15 days under the vision of Slum Free Uttarakhand. Along with this, the District Magistrates have also been summoned to submit a report on the residential arrangements of the sanitation workers of the Municipal Corporations and the migrant workers working at the construction sites.

These instructions were issued in the meeting of the State Level Monitoring Committee of Urban Development in the Secretariat on Wednesday. During this, the Chief Secretary advised the officials to work with the vision of Slum Free Uttarakhand. The District Magistrates were instructed to identify the slums in the districts category wise within the next 15 days and send their list to the government on priority basis.

The Chief Secretary said that after receiving the list, work will be done on the action plan for improvement in the standard of living of the families residing in the slums of the state, regularization and rehabilitation of the settlements. The Chief Secretary also called for the progress report of the study done on the models of various states for the improvement of slums.

The Chief Secretary directed the District Magistrates of Tehri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Pauri Udham Singh Nagar and Champawat to provide the desired information of slums as soon as possible, so that a comprehensive action plan can be prepared and people can be rehabilitated by giving the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana or other useful and welfare schemes prevalent in the state to the affected.

Principal Secretary Ramesh Kumar Sudhanshu, Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram, Nitesh Kumar Jha along with other officers and District Magistrates of Commissioner Garhwal and Kumaon were present in the meeting through virtual medium.
