Uttarakhand: Three-tier Panchayat elections: 2167 candidates filed nomination on the first day, 50553 forms sold

Dehradun: Political parties are busy preparing vigorously for the three-tier Panchayat elections in the state of Uttarakhand. The Panchayat election activities have increased since the State Election Commission released the revised election program on June 28. Under the election program, the process of filing nominations has started from July 2, which will continue till July 5. In such a situation, on the first day of filing nominations, 2167 candidates have filed their nominations in 12 districts of the state. Till July 2, 50553 nomination forms have been sold.

In Uttarakhand, except Haridwar district, the activities of three-tier Panchayat elections are in full swing in the rest of the 12 districts of the state, in such a situation, political parties are busy preparing strategic equations to win the Panchayat elections. Elections are to be held for a total of 66418 posts in these 12 districts of the state. In which elections are to be held for 55587 posts of member Gram Panchayat, 7499 posts of Pradhan Gram Panchayat, 2974 posts of member Kshetra Panchayat and 358 posts of member Zila Panchayat. For which the sale of nomination papers started from 30th June.

So far 50,553 nomination papers have been sold. In such a situation, the sale of nomination papers will continue till 5th July. Also, the last date for filing nomination has also been kept at 4:00 pm on 5th July. According to the information received from the State Election Commission, on the first day of filing nomination, 264 people have filed nomination for the post of member Gram Panchayat, 1337 people for the post of Pradhan Gram Panchayat, 534 people for the post of member Kshetra Panchayat and 42 people for the post of member Zila Panchayat. That is, 2167 nomination papers have been filed so far in relation to the total 66418 posts of Panchayat elections. Election schedule for three-tier panchayat elections

  • The nomination process will run from 2 July to 5 July 2025 from 8 am to 4 pm
  • Nomination papers will be scrutinized from 7 July to 9 July
  • The date for withdrawal of nominations has been kept on 10 and 11 July from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
  • Three-tier panchayat elections will be held in two phases
  • The election symbol for the first phase will be allotted on 14 July
  • The first phase of voting will be held on 24 July
  • The election symbol for the second phase will be allotted on 18 July
  • The second phase of voting will be held on 28 July
  • The counting of votes for both the phases of elections will be held simultaneously on 31 July
