Dehradun: Joint Chief Executive Officer of Uttarakhand Film Development Council, Dr. Nitin Upadhyay, on Tuesday paid a courtesy call on Chief Secretary Shri Anand Bardhan and informed about the activities of the council.
The Chief Secretary said that concrete steps should be taken to encourage the eco-system related to film production in the state. He emphasized that a proposal should be prepared to organize a national level film festival with the cooperation of the Government of India. Along with this, work should also be done to consider the possibilities of low-cost cinema halls in remote mountainous areas and to provide more opportunities to local youth and artists.
Dr. Upadhyay informed the Chief Secretary about the implementation of the state’s film policy. He informed that a single window system is already in operation to make the permission process for film production in Uttarakhand simple and transparent. In the last one year, about 30 regional films have been produced or are under production in the state. Apart from this, many big banner and budget Hindi films and web series are also being shot in Uttarakhand, due to which the state is becoming a center of attraction for filmmakers.
