Uttarakhand youth missing between Singapore and China; family writes to CM Dhami seeking help

Dehradun: A youth from Dehradun, Uttarakhand, is posted in the Merchant Navy. The youth has been reported missing under suspicious circumstances between Singapore and China. The company has informed the family of the incident. The family has expressed fears of kidnapping. Consequently, the family has written to Chief Minister Dhami seeking help in locating their son.

Dehradun resident Narendra Rana reported that his son, Karandeep Singh Rana, is a senior deck cadet in the Merchant Navy. He left home for Singapore a month ago. Upon arriving, he boarded a ship for further training. On September 20th, his son spoke with him by phone. However, that evening, he received a call from the company informing him that his son had gone missing. Sources indicate that the ship was en route from Singapore to China. Meanwhile, the youth disappeared 150 nautical miles southeast of Sri Lanka.

Upon receiving the news of their son’s sudden disappearance, the family was inconsolable. It was reported that only one of Karandeep’s shoes and a camera were found. A search is underway for them. At present, the young man remains unaccounted for. Meanwhile, the family has sent a letter to the District Magistrate of Doon and Chief Minister Dhami, requesting help in finding their son. The family has expressed the possibility that the young man may have been held hostage aboard the ship.
