While Uttarakhand included its traditional sports like yoga and mallakhamb for the first time in these games, it also created a world record by organizing a river rafting competition at night. CM Dhami said that the National Games in Uttarakhand were organized on the theme of Green Games.

Medals made from e-waste

In this event, the use of plastic was minimized. Along with this, solar energy was also used for electricity. The medals given to the players were made from e-waste and sports kits from recycled materials. E-vehicles were also used for transportation.

Rudraksh trees will be planted in the name of medal winning players

It was decided to establish about 2.77 hectares of forest area in Uttarakhand as ‘Khel Van’, in which Rudraksh trees will be planted in the name of each medal winning player. 1600 trees will be planted in Khel Van.

Sports competitions were also held in remote hilly places

CM Dhami said that in this National Games, sports competitions were organized in plain cities like Dehradun, Haridwar, Rudrapur, Haldwani and Rishikesh as well as remote hilly places like Almora, Pithoragarh and Tehri. A major competition of the National Games was also organized in a small town like Chakarpur.

Water sports events held in high altitude lakes and rivers

All the water sports events held in the National Games were organized in the lakes and rivers located at high altitude in Uttarakhand. Instead of temporary construction for organizing these games, efforts were made to develop permanent sports infrastructure at various places in the state.

CM Dhami said that with the successful organization of the 38th National Games, Uttarakhand won a record 103 medals with 24 gold medals in these games. These results will inspire young players.
