Dehradun: Along with the center, state agencies are also engaged on a war footing in the relief and rescue operation in disaster-hit Dharali (Uttarkashi). CM Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the disaster-hit area on Wednesday and met the victims, despite the challenges of the weather. The CM has instructed not to leave any stone unturned in the rescue and relief operation.
Prime Minister took update
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on phone on Wednesday morning and inquired about the updated status of the natural disaster in Dharali area and the relief and rescue operations being carried out after it. Chief Minister Dhami told the Prime Minister that the state government is engaged in relief and rescue operations with full readiness. Due to continuous heavy rainfall, difficulties are being faced in some areas, but all the concerned agencies are working in coordination so that the affected people can get quick assistance. Prime Minister Shri Modi assured all possible help from the central government.
CM reached Dharali
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami also left for the affected area on Wednesday morning. Where he met the affected families, assured all possible help, and reviewed the relief work. The Chief Minister also met the personnel engaged in relief and rescue operations on the spot. He instructed the officials to ensure that the relief material reaches the affected in a timely manner. He said that with the aim of speeding up the relief work, essential food and relief material has been delivered to the Dharali area through two helicopters. He said that the priority of the state government is to restore normalcy by providing relief to every affected person.
Chinook, MI 17 deployed
Here, on the demand of the state government, the central government made available 02 Chinook and 02 MI – 17 helicopters from Chandigarh, Sarsawa and Agra at Jolly Grant Airport early on Wednesday. Heavy machinery is also being transported by Chinook helicopter to restore road traffic. 125 officers and soldiers of the Army, 83 officers and soldiers of ITBP are also engaged in the rescue operation. Here, 06 officers of BRO, along with more than 100 laborers, are engaged in opening the blocked roads.
Beds reserved in Doon and Rishikesh AIIMS
The Health Department has reserved beds in Doon Medical College, Coronation District Hospital and AIIMS Rishikesh to provide treatment to the injured in the disaster, along with this, specialist doctors have also been sent to Uttarkashi. Especially psychiatrists have also been sent to the disaster-affected area.
Relief camp started in Jhala – Harshil
Meanwhile, teams of Army, ITBP as well as SDRF, Police, Revenue Department are engaged in the rescue operation on the spot. The administration has started relief camps in Inter College Harshil, GMVN and Jhala. Along with this, efforts are also being made on a war footing to restore electricity and communication network in the area. NIM and SDRF have also started building a temporary bridge at Limchagad. On Tuesday evening, the state government has sent three IAS officers along with two IGs and three SSP level IPS officers to Uttarkashi to coordinate the relief and rescue operations.
