Dehradun: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan today visited the historic Golju Temple and the ancient Baleshwar Temple in Champawat and reviewed the progress of various development works aimed at strengthening religious tourism in the region.
At the Golju Temple complex, he conducted a detailed on-site inspection of the proposed Golju Corridor project. Executive Engineer (LONIVO) Mohan Paldiya provided a detailed presentation of all the project’s components, structures, and action plan to the Chief Secretary.
The Chief Secretary personally visited the corridor complex and inquired about the proposed construction, beautification, and accessibility enhancement works. He gave clear instructions to the officials to ensure that all development works on the corridor are completed within the stipulated timeframe and with high quality to promote religious tourism.
Following this, Chief Secretary Bardhan inspected the Baleshwar Temple complex and reviewed the beautification requirements of the temple and spring. He directed to coordinate with the Archaeological Department and get the beautification work done while preserving the natural and cultural form of the temple.
The Chief Secretary said that both Golju Temple and Baleshwar Temple are important centers of cultural faith and folk traditions. Conservation, beautification and development of better facilities of these heritage sites will further strengthen the possibilities of religious tourism in Champawat district, which will also increase local employment and economic activities.
During the inspection, Kumaon Divisional Commissioner Deepak Rawat, District Magistrate Manish Kumar, Superintendent of Police Ajay Ganpati, Chief Development Officer Dr. G.S. Khati, Additional District Magistrate Krishnanath Goswami, District Tourism Officer Lata Bisht, along with senior officers and personnel from various departments were present.
