WB: 5 IPS Officers Reshuffled, Koteswar Rao Appoint SP of Sundarban Police District

In a significant administrative reshuffle within the IPS cadre of West Bengal, the state government has transferred and posted five IPS officers.

2005 batch IPS officer Gaurav Sharma has been reassigned as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the West Bengal Special Task Force (STF). He has been removed as the Commissioner of Police of Bidhannagar.

2006 batch IPS officer Mukesh has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police for Bidhannagar, succeeding Mr Sharma. His appointment aims to bring fresh leadership to the crucial metropolitan area.

Mr Koteswar Rao, an IPS officer of 2011 batch, has now been reinstated to his former post, the SP of Sundarban Police District. He returns from his assignment as SP of West Bengal Traffic Police. He was removed from the position of SP of Sundarban Police District by the Election Commission of India (ECI) before the Lok Sabha polls.

2013 batch IPS officer Avijit Banerjee has been reinstated as Purulia SP, resuming his previous responsibilities. He was also removed from his role as Purulia SP by the EC and subsequently placed as SS Intelligence Bureau (IB).

Dhritiman Sarkar, an IPS officer of 2014 batch and former SS Intelligence Bureau (IB), Dhritiman Sarkar has been appointed as the SP of Paschim Medinipur district, reflecting a transfer to a new operational role.
