Who Is Former IAS Officer Manish Verma, Who Joined JD(U)?

Patna: Former IAS officer Manish Verma, a trusted aide of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, officially joined the Janata Dal (United). Mr Verma, who opted for voluntary retirement from the Indian Administrative Service a few years ago, had been serving as the Additional Advisor to the Chief Minister.
Mr Verma is an IAS officer of 2000 batch from Odisha cadre. He is a native of Nalanda district, which is also Nitish Kumar’s home district.
His entry into JD(U) is seen as a strategic reinforcement of Kumar’s political circle. He belongs to the influential Kurmi community and enjoys strong rapport not only with Kumar but also with other key leaders within the party.
Mr Verma’s career in the civil service included notable tenures as district magistrate in Patna and Purnea districts, highlighting his administrative experience and governance acumen. He was previously nominated by the Chief Minister to serve as a member of the Bihar State Disaster Management Authority, further underlining his involvement in critical state affairs.
His induction into JD(U) took place in the presence of top party leaders, signaling a unified front as the party gears up for upcoming political challenges. Verma’s decision to join the party underscores his commitment to furthering the agenda and vision of Nitish Kumar in Bihar’s political landscape.
